Mark Geslison received his Bachelor of Arts in humanities, with a Minor in music in 1990 at Brigham Young University. He is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in humanities, Latin American Literature at BYU. Geslison has been teaching at BYU since 1992 and is the director of Folk Music Ensembles, enabling him to instruct beginning and intermediate folk music ensembles, and to perform at events such as the international folk music and dance festivals of western and northern Europe, and for international consulates in Los Angeles and San Francisco, California.
Highlight performances include events at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City, and the 20-30 yearly performances as part of the Elementary School Outreach program. Geslison has an extensive repertoire of both publications and recordings. He is the founder and CEO of a family music training company that creates publications for teaching folk music, including Music in the Home and Community.
