This composition by Bob Gay and Marcel Peeters is a musical nostalgic recollection of 'those good old times…when everything was better than nowadays (?)'. It evokes the atmosphere and the conviviality one could find in those years in the music-halls and variety theatres with their singers, dancers, jugglers, illusionists etc. Today one can hardly hear this type of music any more, except at special occasions or in the circus world. In the meantime, the 'musical' has become the worthy successor to the operetta.
